Since 1996, Yesodot’s mission has been to strengthen the Israeli religious community’s commitment to democratic values and to reduce their feelings of alienation from society and from the State. The moral bankruptcy of many of Israel’s leaders is reinforcing the religious community’s belief that Torah and democratic values are incompatible.

At Yesodot, we see things differently. For more than ten years, Yesodot has developed educational programs for religious youth, which demonstrate that democratic values, including tolerance, equality and human rights, are not only compatible with Jewish tradition but are at its core. With disrespect for the law and for other people’s rights becoming the norm, Yesodot’s innovative programs are essential for Israel’s survival as a tolerant and ethical society.
